RELIGION
VERSE 1: Service starts and four men in matching dark suits walk onto
the stage
Their presentation veneer and oversized smiles, they couldn't seem more fake
The feeling's hard to shake
Though poised and polished, their dated musical message just don't speak
Your tastes don't fit this crowd and you begin to wonder who's the freak?
Is it them or me?
Don't be fooled by all the posturing and the religiousity
It's OK to be yourself and embrace your own personality
CHORUS: It's not about religion, we don't have to play that game
It's not about conformity, we're not meant to be the same
It's all about God's love for you, and His concern for what you're going through
Jesus gave His life to save you and set you free from religion!
VERSE 2: The preacher lifts his two ton Bible and waives it
violently in the air Pointing and yelling, dramatically overwhelming those who
quietly stare
Does he even care?
The verbal beating doesn't do too much to soothe your already broken heart
With the judgmental glares of the righteous clique, you know from this “show”
you must depart
But now where do you start?
Don't be disillusioned just because they speak in Jesus name
God never intended His church to repel you and drive you away
BRIDGE: In the dos and the don'ts and the traditions of man, the church
can get a little lost - Please don't let our mistakes keep you from the
powerful, loving message of the cross!
